Downtown Idabel will be festive and ready for a party that day with live entertainment, craft vendors, children’s games, sidewalk sale, dance contest and country showdown. Even skeptics enjoy a little fun. And that’s just what you’ll find at the annual Honobia Bigfoot Festival on October 5-6 in Honobia, Oklahoma. La Flore County—where Honobia is located—is considered a hot spot for Bigfoot sightings in Oklahoma, one of the states where sightings have been reported. Signs of these occurrences include strange wood-on-wood knocks or powerful taps and vocalizations that range from whispers to whistles to thunderous roars. No sightings are expected the weekend of the fest, but lots of fun times definitely are! The Bigfoot Festival will be held on the grounds of the Kiamichi Mountains Christian [...]

2019-10-23T21:40:15+00:00Event, Festival, McCurtain County, Things to do|

Arguably one of the prettiest times of the year in southeast Oklahoma, spring brings that wonderful reprieve from winter; warmer weather lets us again enjoy the outdoors without so many layers, and the region is awash in the beauty that comes with springtime blooming. And dogwood trees are an area favorite when it comes to spring blooms. Since the late 1730s, dogwood trees have been used as ornamental additions to landscaping here in the North America. Some credit Thomas Jefferson for the tree's increasing popularity in the late 1700s, as he did his best to spread these trees through his [...]
