All About this Oklahoma Museum

The Museum of the Red River boasts being the “largest cultural institution in a 150-mile radius,” so it’s one of the crown jewels of southeast Oklahoma. The Herron family decided to open a museum so that rural residents could learn about the history of their home. Admission has been free since its opening in 1974. In the 1990s, the Museum of the Red River began to include artifacts from around the world in addition to the Americas.
