So whether you want to catch your own Thanksgiving dinner with Oklahoma turkey hunting or if you’re just an annual Oklahoma deer hunting fan, book one of our Broken Bow cabins and get outside this fall. Here’s the lowdown on two of the state’s most popular hunting seasons—and where to go during them.

Oklahoma Turkey HuntingBird for Oklahoma turkey hunting

Wild turkeys are large, with some growing upward of 20 pounds. Oklahoma has three species: Eastern, Rio Grande, and Merriam’s. You’re most likely to see Eastern turkeys around Beavers Bend Creative Escapes, but the Rio Grandes aren’t far away. They will respond to turkey bird calls and are typically hunted with a shotgun. You’ll find these gorgeous birds on most of the hunting land in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Deer Hunting

Whitetail deer is the most popular game among Oklahoma hunters. Archery season for Oklahoma deer hunting runs from October to January, so you can get outside and catch some venison all winter long. If you prefer hunting with a rifle, there is a two-week window from the end of November through the beginning of December. The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation has a comprehensive list of all hunting seasons in the state.
