You know something is going on when a buzz is in the air and Broken Bow, OK is preparing to welcome around 17,000 visitors from far and wide. It is the Beavers Bend Folk Festival & Craft Show! This is one of Oklahoma’s most popular and anticipated fall events and for anyone thinking of taking a little trip over to our beautiful neck of the woods, this would be a great reason to come.
This year the festival will be taking place November 14-16th, 2014 and there will be so much going on, we may run out of room on this little article! It truly is a fantastic event for the whole family as there are activities planned that every age will enjoy. The focus of this show is to feature turn-of-the-century crafts and demonstrations. You will be treated to around 70 vendors who will be on hand to display their personal works of art plus show skills in woodturning, candle making, broom making, quilting, blacksmithing, soap making, paper making and more.
The courtyard of the Forest Heritage Center will be the hub for young ones to listen to dramatic storytellers, visit the petting zoo, and make handmade puppets and whole lot more. If music is what touches your soul, you will be thrilled with the incredible musicians that offer their time and talents to be at this festival. Some of the best folk musicians will light up the outdoor stage throughout the entire three days. There is nothing like the sound of banjos and fiddles to get your toes tapping and your spirits lifted. We also cannot forget to mention the food! This is one part of the festival that often takes the cake as food vendors offer such delicacies as pork-o-bobs, patty melts, chicken tacos, smoked turkey legs, Indian tacos, burgers, kettle corn, caramel apples, funnel cakes, fresh apple cider, and old-time root beer. Oh my—our taste buds are already dancing!
Attendance and parking is free and there are handy shuttles that run continuously from the parking area to the festival grounds.
