After a long work-week, you’re tired… and looking forward to a Broken Bow, OK getaway that you and your wife have planned with another couple. You have a feeling that a week at Rustic Ridge cabin will be exactly what you all need to relax, unwind and truly enjoy some time away!
You’ve made arrangements for a Saturday arrival in Broken Bow. While you could have opted to let the management company stock your kitchen, you decided to go to the store yourselves. So after a quick stop in town for groceries, you’re on your way to your private cabin-for-a-week!
Driving into the Southern Hills addition is a wonder – large, wooded lots with houses tucked back into them to give privacy. Yet the neighborhood looks friendly and welcoming. You turn into the short drive and see Rustic Ridge for the first time in person: the sight of this charming 1.5-story pine-log cabin home makes you smile and immediately relaxes you. You almost hope there will be rain so you can hear it hitting the metal roof and you can’t wait to spend some time on the wrap-around porch and in the hot tub you glimpse behind the cabin. And the fire-ring is just waiting for you all to make some s’mores; you’re so glad you included those ingredients in your provisions!
The cabin’s inside makes you smile even wider – the online pictures of the interior cedar wood did not do the home justice. Leather and wood furnishings go perfectly in the welcoming living room, and the beautiful stone fireplace is a magnificent room highlight. The decor is charming and not too cluttered. And, for goodness’ sake, is that a gumball machine filled with treats? You chuckle and make note of the laundry as your wife and friends explore the rest of the cabin.
Ducks or bears? It makes no matter – both bedrooms are charming with their cozy queen beds. Your wife reappears and says that the jetted tub in the bath of the room she’s claimed will do just fine if rain keeps the group from using the hot tub!Your buddy comes down from upstairs and announces that it will be the PERFECT place for evening games, friendly gambling, and the ladies can even hang out there if they decide to do a day of crafting thanks to the table and chairs. The Foosball table will likely be the site of some friendly competition! Oh, and if there happens to be an argument, this may also be known as the “dog house”, as there are two single beds up there as well. The whole group laughs and then you concentrate on bringing in food and luggage.
Over the following days, your time is spent on trails around nearby Beavers Bend State Resort Park and Hochatown State Park, in and on the water at Broken Bow Lake, trips to Idabel and Hugo to see the sights… and even a day just driving around to see what you can see. Evenings and nights are spent in the hot tub, around a campfire, and yes, even winning (and losing) some cutthroat card, table and Foosball games. You’ve laughed with your spouse and your friends, and strengthened that friendship through this amazing vacation together.
When it comes time to leave, you find that you would really rather stay. Rustic Ridge cabin has truly been a relaxing escape and the beauty of the Broken Bow area, along with the welcome you’ve received everywhere you go. is something that you could get used to long-term. But go home you must.
And come Monday, when your co-workers ask about your trip and want to know where to stay when THEY visit Broken Bow, you can smile and say “I know a little place…”
Then again, maybe you’ll just keep it to yourself!
