Each year, the entire town of Broken Bow and the surrounding areas look forward to our annual Folk Festival and Craft Show, held at the Forest Heritage Center. We would like to formally invite you to attend this wonderful, family-friendly event during your southeast OK cabin vacation this November 13, 14 and 15, 2015!

Start your holiday shopping early! Nearly 70 exhibitors and vendors will be in attendance this year, and many take things back to our country’s roots with turn-of-the-(19th)-century skills. Meanwhile, storytellers will regale their audiences with traditional lore while traditional musicians play dulcimer, banjo, fiddles and more for your enjoyment. Kids will love the petting zoo, puppet shows and hands-on activities.

homemade-pilows-blanketsWhat will you see in the vendor booths? Traditional handicrafts such as lye soap, candles, turned-wood items, handmade knives, quilts, brooms, natural lotions and salves, pottery, wood toys, rag dolls, glass, paper, furniture… just about any traditional goods may be offered at the festival. In fact some of the vendors might demonstrate their skills, and be sure to check out the free Mountain Dulcimer workshops (bring your own or try out one already on-site).

Come hungry, because there will be plenty of food options to choose from! The traditional burgers and patty melts will be joined by pork-o-bobs, smoked turkey legs, Indian and Cowboy tacos and more. For dessert, try the funnel cakes, peanut brittle, kettle korn and candy/caramel apples. There will be apple cider and old-time root beer available to wash it all down.

autumn_foliageAre you a musician yourself? Feel free to bring your instrument of choice: there is sure to be a pop-up performance for anyone to join every now and then, or just sit down, start playing and see who comes along to add their talents to YOUR group!

Conveniently, mid-November is the traditional peak of our fall foliage, providing a colorful setting for the event – you really couldn’t pick a better time to visit!

There is no admission to the festival, and shuttles run regularly from parking areas to the event itself. So come on down to Broken Bow for fun times, unique shopping and a welcoming community spirit during the Folk Festival!
