This is the 24th year of the event and each year it seems to get more popular, with nearly 17,000 attendees at the southern Oklahoma event. It’s prime color season too, which makes a weekend in the woods even more delightful.

Held at the Forest Heritage Center at Beavers Bend State Park, the festival showcases turn-of-the-century arts and crafts. More than 70 exhibitors and vendors will be on hand demonstrating skills such as candle making, woodturning, and soap making. Stop by and visit with herbalists, see the handiwork of instrument makers and quilters. Attend hands-on demonstrations of blacksmithing, basket weaving, beading and flute making. Bring the kids too, because there will be a petting zoo as well as a chance for them to help woodturners decorate the toy tops.

And what’s a festival without music and food! Some of the country’s top folk musicians—playing bagpipes, dulcimers and fiddles—will fill the forest with tunes and have everyone toe-tapping. When hunger strikes, check out the wide range of tasty options, including pork-o-bobs, cowboy tacos, smoked turkey legs, funnel cakes, and more, plus two favorite beverages to go with everything— fresh apple cider and old-time root beer.
