A “camp” experience for the kids, and a mid-week or week-long getaway for you and the family… what could be better?

Each year, The Broken Bow Forest Heritage Center Museum at Beaver’s Bend State Park hosts Camp Discover…  Art of the Forest. This 3-day day-camp for children ages 9-11 is a fun, educational experience that familiarizes kids about the forest and nature. This year, camp is held from July 11-13 (that’s Tuesday through Thursday) from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Each day, kids can learn about how the forest is used (both recreational and for its resources), and can participate in hands-on activities like painting with pine needles, hiking, basket weaving, tye-dying with dirt, and learning all about how to identify trees & how to tell their age. Kids will be provided with one mid-morning snack and a lunch each day.

Please note that space for the camp is limited: only 25 students are accepted to the camp, and applications must be submitted for each potential camper. Applications must be mailed, emailed or faxed by June 20th with payment.

This is a great excuse to plan a family vacation to southwest Oklahoma! Our rental cabins are ready to welcome you with a home-away-from-home feel and all the conveniences! For families, cabins are available for 4 or more guests (even if there are just three of you… why not enjoy the extra space). While one or more child is at camp each day, take the time to explore the area and be back in time to pick him/her/them up at 3:00. Even better, meet your child at the park and spend a little more time on the trails or at the lake.
