Do you ever just daydream of retreating to a scenic place with mountains, winding roads, beautiful lakes and rivers and endless opportunities for adventure? We are here to tell you that this kind of place exists! The Beavers Bend State Park is one of the most beautiful and popular areas in Oklahoma-it is a true treasure to both visitors and locals.

The mountainous region of southeast Oklahoma is where this stunning park is located—along the shores of the Mountain Fork River and Broken Bow Lake. It was named after a Choctaw citizen named John T. Beavers and the “bend” in the park’s name came from how the Mountain Fork River makes a sharp turn in one area. Whether you are an avid outdoorsman or one who simply likes to escape from the busyness of life into serenity, this state park has it all.

This 1300-acre state park is located in McCurtain County and is about 10.5 miles north of Broken Bow. As one of Oklahoma’s most popular areas, Beavers Bend State Park boats crystal clear waters and a rugged terrain full of 100-ft. pine trees—perfect for fishing, hiking, boating, biking, horseback riding, canoeing, and river float trips. It doesn’t take much of a trip in any direction to be treated to spectacular views. For visitors who want a little time to explore, there are RV sites and tent campsites to be found all over as well. Get your swing on at the Cedar Creek Golf Course or take a train or horseback ride at the Beavers Bend Depot. Broken Bow Lake is a favorite of scuba divers and you may see an eagle or two while walking the David L. Boren trail.

The Dogwood Days Festival will be held on April 5, 2014 this year and it is a welcome sight to locals and visitors alike! There will be a myriad of activities for the whole family: live entertainment, a bbq cook-off, sidewalk sales, RV and boat show, and countless vendors. Amidst the festivities, we encourage you to go explore and see all that our beautiful part of the country has to offer and the best place to start or end your time here is at Beavers Bend State Park.
