This annual event that brings an already vibrant community alive will take place July 25-26, 2014. If you closed your eyes and imagined an old-fashioned festival in a quaint, beautiful southeast Oklahoma town, chances are you would see exactly what happens at this popular watermelon festival. It is held every summer at Valliant City Park and watermelon is on display through this two-day event. Enter eating and seed-spitting competitions or just watch others strut their stuff while you get your fill of red, juicy watermelon on the sidelines.
It all kicks off with a parade Friday night followed by a rousing gospel music concert. Saturday will then be filled with a host of activities to pick from. Sit and relax to some live music, challenge your friends and family to a horseshoe or checkers competition, stroll around the car show, and if you have young ones, take them to the bounce house, water slides and pony rides. Enjoy all kind of delicious goodies such as watermelon salsa and watermelon slushies and don’t forget about the photography and quilt show.
