"Bird House"

BIRD HOUSE is the newest, designer cabin concept, to open in the prestigious Southern Hills development adjacent to the Beavers Bend State Park. Designed by the same innovative owners who built NATURE HOUSE, the first contemporary designed structure to exist in the Southern Hills area, BIRD HOUSE adds a “rustic” twist to contemporary design. The name BIRD HOUSE was derived from the homes solid pine logs and rough cut cedar planks that make up the exterior and for the perfect pitched gables that are visible from any angle. Each peak reminds the onlooker of the perfect little wooden havens that are designed and built for our feathered friends.

BIRD HOUSE’s 1911 square feet, consists of a downstairs great room which houses a vast living room, dining room, and kitchen area. In addition, the ground floor also consists of two large bedrooms with queen sized beds, one full bath, and laundry room. The second floor of BIRD HOUSE is where the spacious master suite rests, with a king size bed, full size bath, walk in closets, and personal reading/meditation nook. Also nested at the top of the second floor is a loft, which provides another seating area. The sofa at the top of this perch can be converted to provide an additional full sized bed.

As with NATURE HOUSE, BIRD HOUSE was designed with an intended “HEART” or focal point. The “HEART” of BIRD HOUSE is the enormous living/great room area, which is defined by a large 15’ x 15’ Tibetan rug, a pair of dueling leather sofas and all of which sit in the center, between two pairs of 8’sliding Pella wood doors. This is the location that one can see everything, as well as be seen throughout the house. Here you can enjoy the warmth of the fireplace, watch the flat screen TV, or even unfold the queen sized bed from the leather sofa, in order to rest, rejuvenate and watch nature unfold through its vast windows.

BIRD HOUSE completed construction in January 2007 and the interior finished in February 2007. Including the three secluded bedrooms, the sofa sleeper and the loft sleeper, BIRD HOUSE is able to sleep 10 comfortably, and with plenty of room still left within the “nest”. Outside of the “nest”, BIRD HOUSE offers guests wrap around covered porches with classic cedar Adirondack chairs as well as an attached 10 foot elevated exposed deck with tree top views of the almost 2 acres of Ouachita Mountains and forest land that BIRD HOUSE occupies. From this elevated tree top roost, guests are able to look out on 40 – 60 foot pine trees, as well as native aspen, cedar, dogwood, maple, oak, red bud and sweet gum trees. This location also provides as a great location to view many species of animals and birds.

Within BIRD HOUSE, guests will find interior walls of solid pine logs, natural oak floors throughout, a two story fireplace finished in rough cut cedar planks, and crank out solid wood Pella windows everywhere. The open kitchen holds all of the amenities of a commercial kitchen as well as stainless steel appliances and imported slab granite counter
